The Cisco ASR 1000 Series provides a significant enhanced value compared to prior generations of Cisco midrange routing solutions by providing more than tenfold performance improvement with services running. Additionally, the routers have hardware and software redundancy, as well as an industry-leading high-availability design.
The Cisco ASR 1002 Router in a 2-Rack Unit (RU) form factor comes with an integrated route and serial interface processors. It houses three shared port adapter (SPA) slots supporting single height and dual height SPAs. It is an ideal solution for a large branch office or as a managed high-speed customer premises equipment (CPE) device to support enhanced features such as security, deep packet inspection, and firewall.
The Cisco ASR 1000 Series ESP is responsible for data-plane processing tasks, and all network traffic flows through them, enhancing a range of advanced services from service provider broadband and edge services to enterprise-level WAN aggregation and IP gateway services.
